Yup, this book was written 10 years before it became a television series, and I'm only now getting around to reading it. Well, to be honest, I'd not heard of Sawyer until perhaps three years ago. I've since started reading his blog pretty regularly. He's pretty good about replying to questions posed to him, too.

The blurb:

Suddenly, without warning, all seven billion people on Earth black out for more than two minutes. Millions die as planes fall from the sky, people tumble down staircases, and cars plow into each other.

But that's the least of the survivors' challenges. During the blackout, everyone experienced a glimpse of what his or her future holds — and the interlocking mosaic of these visions threatens to unravel the present.

No, I haven't forgotten how to count. I'm still reading Le Guin's Steering the Craft, so it's book #2 for 2010.
